The lake is formed by Davis Dam on the Colorado River, which defines the border between Nevada and Arizona. It lies at an elevation of 647 feet near Laughlin, Nevada and Bullhead City, AZ, about 67 miles downstream from Hoover Dam.

Lake Mohave's 237 miles of shoreline can be enjoyed year round as days are almost always sunny. The terrain surrounding the lake varies from sheer cliffs of multicolored rocks to sandy beaches and secluded coves. Ancient Indian petroglyphs and other historical phenomena lure hikers into the mountains.

KATHERINE LANDING
Katherine Landing rents houseboats, ski boats, patio boats, fishing boats and personal watercraft. and is a full service resort and marina. The marina has slips, a gas dock and repair facilities, a lakeside general store, and a tackle and bait shop. A restaurant and lounge are available year round. Boat slips are guaranteed with resort reservation, some restrictions apply. The resort features a 51-room motel with comfortable accommodations for those less inclined to take a houseboat adventure.

DIRECTIONS TO KATHERINE LANDING
From Phoenix:
1. Take Hwy. 17 North to I-40 West.
2. Take 1-40 West to Kingman.
3. Take Hwy. 93 North to Hwy. 68. Turn left.
4. Stay on Hwy. 68 to Katherine Landing Rd. and turn right. Follow the road to resort. Check-in at the motel on left hand side of road.

COTTONWOOD COVE
Cottonwood Cove is located on the Nevada side of Lake Mohave and features HOUSEBOAT RENTALS, marina, BOAT RENTALS, fuel, dry boat storage, store, showers/laundry, MOTEL, trailer village, RV SITES, and NPS campground and launch ramp.

DIRECTIONS TO COTTONWOOD COVE
From Phoenix, Arizona
Once on I-40, travel west to the Searchlight/Las Vegas, NV exit (Highway 95) just west of Needles, CA. Travel north on Hwy. 95 to Searchlight, NV. Turn right (East) on Cottonwood Cove Road.
Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina is 14 miles from the turnoff. Once in Lake Mead National Recreation Area follow the signs to Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina.

FISHING
If you are looking for great sport fishing, look no further than Lake Mohave. Largemouth bass, striped bass (Stripers), rainbow trout, channel catfish, crappie and bluegill are found in abundance. 

WATER SPORTS
Houseboating and day boating is extremely popular within Lake Mead NRA, especially at Lake Mohave. The broad expanses of water are ideal for waterskiing and kayaking and canoeing are excellent options for those looking for a slower pace. The dependable desert winds of the National Recreation Area have created an interest for those seeking the thrill of sailboats and sailboards.  Of course, swimming is a major form of water recreation during summer months when lake temperatures warm into the 80-degree range. Both lakes are clear, clean and also ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving. No lifeguards are present so never swim alone.

Bullhead/Laughlin Airport 5 miles from Cottonwood Resort. Commercial flights available. Houseboat and motel customers may call the resort for complimentary shuttle. Call. (928) 754-3245.

Interesting Sights and Side Trips
Oatman, a quaint mining town located a few miles south of the resort is populated by burros. These descendents of the sturdy pack animals used by the early days miners now wander the streets mingling with the residents and tourists soliciting handouts.

Lake Havasu City, home of the London Bridge, is just a ½ hour drive from the resort. This bridge was actually dismantled, transported and reassembled as the centerpiece of an authentic English village recreated on the banks of the Colorado River. The village's shops, restaurants and pubs are well worth a visit.

If you are driving west of the resort toward the main highway to Las Vegas, a detour up Christmas Tree Pass will lead you to some especially fine petroglyphs carved by Indian tribes. The road through the pass is unpaved.
