The areas of Wahweap resort and marina, Glen Canyon Dam, the canyons of Antelope and Navajo along with the lowers regions of Labyrinth Face and West Canyons are the part in Arizona.

Summer temps at Powell hover between the 90s and 100s and allow such activities as boating, water skiing, jetskiing and swimming. Winter temps mingle around the 40 to 50s range and attract the sightseeing, hiking and fishing types.

When hiking on the lake's back-country you may run into wildlife such as mule deer, pronghorn antelope, red & gray fox, ringtails, bobcats, mountain lion, beaver and prairie dog just to mention a few. In such case wildlife is rare, there is plenty of natural beauty in the pricly pear cacti, cliffrose, mariposa lillies, indian paintbrush, evening primrose, rabbitbrush and globemallow.

The lake is one of the most scenic & pleasurable in the country to boat on and if you don't own your own craft, marinas such as Wahweap and others have rentals available for skiing, fishing or houseboating. It's very important however, to call in advance as these rentals can book up early.

In some cases, houseboats may need to be reserved at least a year in advance. It is also important for boaters to keep an eye open for approaching storms as they can produce winds in excess of 60 mph and creat waves steeper than the ocean's at times.

You can catch a boat tour from Wahweap, Bullfrog or Halls Crossing Marinas to visit the world's largest natural bridge - Rainbow Bridge. If your in mind to try your hand at fishing, perhaps catching any of the striped, large & smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie & pike or just the bluegill, perch or sunfish, a license can be purchased at any of the marinas or any sporting goods store in Page.

If you are interested in hiking in the area, you can try the Rainbow bridge, Paria canyon, Dark Canyon & Grand Gulch. Visit the park staff at the Carl Hayden Visitor Center for trip suggestions and trail descriptions. Just be sure to bring plenty of water whether summer or winter! We want to hear all about your trip!
